Yeah, it wasn’t a disaster or over the top because of anything little d or “JD” “Vance” did during their planned ambush of a guy trying to fight off a dictator invading his country. Not according to Lindsey. Last week, anyway.

I feel like a broken record here, but the huge uptick in ageism I see in relation to politics seems like it’s not going to, ahem, age well given the amount of things I keep seeing about slowing down/reversing aging…

I mean, yeah, it sounds kind of silly until it doesn’t. I remember reading about/thinking about things like AI (even if it’s not AGI - things like LLMs are here and disrupting the shit out of things). Same with self-driving cars. And yeah, neither of these things are perfect, but they are having an effect on society - people I know mostly got very smug and dismissive about these notions just 20 years ago. They are rather quiet about them now. I think the same thing is true about aging. Even if the breakthroughs are extremely mild and stay that way for decades, maybe even forever, suppose average healthspan is increased even 5 years. That will make (upper) age limits look very myopic and dated.

Right, but we have to have the dumbass teenagers that are breaking into the Treasury payment systems and USAID and so on focus on ending “waste” by…cutting life-saving things in USAID. Also, they will be ending a lot of “fraud” by making sure farmers have no place to sell their food.

What’s with the ageism? I want Democratic representatives of any age, as long as they have the right policies and they are of sound mind. People over the age of 65 will be just fine with me, thanks.

I really could not stop laughing from earlier today (I think it was the Young Turks podcast I was listening to) when I heard them play some crazy bullshit from the State Media Television and someone was talking, in the context of little d destroying our economy with tariffs, about how this will be just more of “Biden’s economy” if things get painful due to what little d is doing to us.

I mean, seriously. I guess Biden made little d play his tariff game? But I’m sure there are a non-zero amount of redcaps that watch that shit and nod their heads to it.

I cut him off and said, “I believe in science” and I could see the immediate relief on his face.

I find it so fucking weird that it’s not the default position, but…I’m almost sure it’s not. Personally, I like to say science requires no belief, but merely accepting the evidence [1]…but the shorthand is usually easier.

Anyway, imagine going to a mechanic, and they give you some spiel about how “I’m required to inform you that oil changes are a matter of personal and religious choice…” 🤯

[1] This is only because some brainiacs like to pretend as if science and religion are just two sides of the same coin and both require belief. It’s really a way that they are telling on themselves and basically admitting they know nothing about basic principles of science…but you hear it all the time.

I remember some science-based podcasts talking how many vaccines are victims of their own success (this was the mid-00s when some of the Andrew Wakefield bullshit started getting visible traction with morons). Sure, a small percentage of people, if herd immunity remains high enough because everyone ELSE does the right thing, can opt out of vaccines and see no harm. If that number drops below a certain percentage, though, watch the fuck out, because people are going to get hurt and/or die.

Another place we can see this right now is the way people treat government - it’s essentially invisible when it’s working properly, hence it’s easy to claim it doesn’t do anything for you…

I see idiotic companies treat infrastructure like IT the same way - the money people start asking why they are paying for staff they don’t hear from, start trying to make cuts. And things might be okay…for a while. Until things aren’t. Often, the seagull managers that made such brilliant decisions have skated on out of there. If something catches fire before then, they are easily in a position where they can deflect blame onto others.

Yeah, they proceeded to make it out like it was some gay affair, too, thinking that was really hilarious.

They don’t give a fuck about decorum and civility and all that. They just take umbrage with their people even being questioned at all. They think the right thing to do is everyone just rolls over because they won in the slimmest of majorities and that this gives them a “mandate” to do whatever wild shit they want. And everyone else should just shut up and make themselves invisible. Fuck that noise.

The way they were painting the situation, too. Christ, State Media in Russia and North Korea would blush watching those assholes trying to claim that people would be delighted to resort to backyard farming for their eggs.

The only way it’d be any worse is if little d was sitting right there at the desk with Brooke, and you could see her hand pumping up and down giving him a handy.
