  • Exactly what I’m trying to teach my kids.

When playing with people, the goal is for them to want to play with you again, not just to win. Put the worst people on your team and teach them to be better, and go after the better players on the other team, leaving the worse players to your teammates. Or as you said, goof off a bit, or give yourself handicaps (e.g. have to “tag up” to your base between kills, can only use one weapon, etc).

If everyone goes home happy, then it’s a success. Leave the fierce competition for tournaments.

  • no one ever explained to her what sex actually is.

I have a hard time believing this. 10s on any porn site would make that connection clear, and you could ask pretty much any 12yo and they’ll know what sex is mechanically, even if they’ve never looked at porn or had a sex ed class.

Regardless, I agree wholeheartedly that we need better sex ed and access to contraception and protection against STDs. People, especially kids, are really good at making justifications and convincing themselves they what they want to do isn’t technically the thing they’re not supposed to do.

  • E.g.: under the new guidelines by Mozilla you’re not allowed to bookmark pornhub

I’m gonna need some evidence for that.

The only thing that’s “worse” about Firefox’s TOS IMO is that it gives them the right to “sell” your data, which seems to mostly apply to their business deals with advertisers (e.g. Google search and Pocket). Google doesn’t need that because they are the advertiser.

With Firefox, you can disable Pocket and change the search engine and you’re probably good. With chrome, you can’t really get away from it, especially since you can’t install an effective ad blocker anymore.

Brave’s TOS are better, but I only use them as a backup because I believe strongly in alternative rendering engines. For that reason I still recommend Firefox, though with an asterisk that they should consider a fork if they don’t want to disable defaults.
