In uni they told us part of the purpose of lab coats was to be able to take it off quickly without second thoughts about sentimental value in case of e.g. fire.
In high school, one of my science teachers had a tie-dyed lab coat.
It’s too bad most lab coats are at least 50% polyester. They are definitely still tie-dyeable at even just 35% cotton but it’ll come out pastel.
i love making garments meant to be worn during potentially flammable activities out of materials that are basically just solid fuel, very cool
