You’re missing the forest for the trees. The cherry picked examples are not at all interesting or what I’m referring to.
It’s wonderful that he’s since retracted his position on Ukraine. It’s wonderful that he’s changed his tune on the hospital bombing. That’s not the issue.
The problem is the pattern.
He jumps to conclusions that fit his narrative and speaks with extreme confidence on things he knows almost nothing. It’s strange, because he has a poli Sci degree. But the most research I’ve seen him do on stream is read Twitter headlines.
I don’t care for Ethan either. I’m not interested in defending him. But Frogan has said WAY more despicable things than the Habibi thing. That’s not even relevant. Frogans charged language earned a temp ban on Twitch. The way she also called Ethan throughout the fallout was also despicable. But hey, it’s just Hasans community. He has no control over it, right?
Also, Hasan can’t handle the slightest criticism. After he botched that trans debate, a trans person in his chat mentioned some of the things he got wrong. What was Hasans response: he tells that person that he hopes they unalive themselves. Wow. Let’s keep simping for this wonderful individual.
Or that time he endorsed killing babies because after all, even babies of Israeli settlers are also occupiers. Barf.
We haven’t even scratched the surface.
Should I go on? Do you see the pattern now?
I don’t watch Ethan because I don’t like him or care for him. He’s got nothing interesting to say. But my god, do we have to simp for Hasan? Is this the best we got in the twitch political streaming world? Come on…
I understand now. You seem out of the loop on a lot of stuff. You keep assuming you know the instances I’m talking about and jump right away to playing major defence. Why don’t you just ask which events I’m referring to instead of jumping the gun? I’m friendly, I promise.
I’ve been following Hasan’s content for about five years when he was just a guest nobody on other people’s twitch streams.
The babies deserve to die is when he joined that stream with that other idiot second thought. Plenty of clips floating around yt if you need to catch up. No, it was not clipped out of context. Always with the context.
I don’t care to nitpick each event because again, we’re getting lost in the forest. He wants to tell trans people to un alive, fine be edgy or whatever.
If there’s one critique I’d like everyone to take about Hasan is his superficial and shallow engagement on any topic. He can say just enough to sound intelligible without having to get into specifics. To someone not familiar with any given topic, he sounds clever and informed. At some point he will engage with a topic you too @[email protected] will be intimately familiar with and the curtain will fall. He has an extremely shallow and vapid take on any topic that it makes my eyes bleed. But he knows how to say just enough to sound smart. If that’s what you’re into and you find his content entertaining you do you. I’m not here to judge anyone for the twitch streamers they follow. I will also never understand the parasocial relationships people have with twitch streamers but whatever.
I won’t even go into the whole performative dance about class solidarity while living in a million dollar mansion in Beverly hills and driving a Porsche. I don’t care how many donation stream drives he does, it all comes off as disingenuous and icky.
Lastly, I would like to leave with some positive alternatives:
Harper O’Connor. Notable video: Yt Link
Gary Stevenson. Leftist content pushing for the working class. Multi millionaire, drives a Peugeot 107. I only mention this because he makes it a point why capital and dick riding materialism is poison.
Lonerbox. Very informed on history and me.
