Summary
Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, said ICE can “absolutely” deport legal immigrants, including green card holders, if they commit crimes.
He cited Mahmoud Khalil, a pro-Palestinian protester at Columbia University arrested by ICE, as an example.
Homan’s statement followed Sen. Marco Rubio’s call to revoke visas and green cards of Hamas supporters. Immigration advocates condemned the arrest, calling it suppression of political speech.
Green cards can be revoked for crimes or security threats, but Khalil has not been convicted of a crime. Over 1 million people signed a petition for his release.
“If they commit crimes” is doing a lot of lifting here. Sorry Tom, protesting is not against the law- yet…
They’re going to link everyone who has ever said a kind word about Palestinians (or even wore one of those scarves) to every awful thing Hamas has ever done to justify deporting them.

They are going to criminalize half of Americans for simply existing as who they are. Just wait until the anti-sodomy and anti-interacial marriage statutes make a comeback.
Hiding behind “but they committed a crime!” is going to be used to justify all kinds of horrors.
Yep. Anything they don’t like will be criminalized. Then when there is an inevitable protest because of some overreach, the government will react by going to the media and vilifying the protests for supporting “hardened criminals.” It’s so transparent.
It just goes to show that legality and morality, while sometimes overlapping, are not the same.
It’s like when the a Norwegian politician was asked why cannabis is illegal, and if it could ever be legalized. His answer: “Cannabis is illegal, because the law says so, and cannot be changed”.
What a fucking dumbass.
